Giovanni Berchicci has been keen on cabinet making since he was a child, observing his father working wood, an experience that he brings with him his whole life. He attended the school for carpenters Minusieri "San Carlo" in Turin, where he learned the construction techniques of classic furniture, inlaid wood and furniture restoration. At the same time he is passionate and deepens the study and research of ancient oil varnishes and their production. For the last ten years he has been constructing instruments of the classical quartet, first studying in Cremona and continuing to collaborate with various luthiers on both the constructive aspect and the formulation of oil varnishes for violin making. He is currently the best-known and valued Italian manufacturer for the production of oil varnishes and regularly holds lectures and workshops. His varnishes are used by many of the best contemporary luthiers.
