Ansaldo Poggi (1893-1984) is considered one of the most important luthiers of the twentieth century for his impeccable technique. He created his own aesthetic on classic models.

His varnish is rich in color and texture and started out with more reddish undertones, but later turned to a light orange yellow and becoming even lighter by the late 1960s.
