Portuguese Rosin in Flakes

This rosin is a vegetable resin in flakes slightly less colored than the 546400. Rosin is a solid, transparent resin, residue of the distillation of turpentine (resins of conifers Pinus palustris and other pines of the Pinaceae family). It is also known commercially under the name of Greek pitch, resin for violin (violin rosin) and others. Rosin is the base resin of Cremonese paints of the golden period cooked together with linseed oil. For the bows it is the resin that allows the ideal friction between the hair and the strings. This is why rosin is the most important resin for violin making.
