Despite its pink color it is highly effective for dissolving shellac and various types of resins. Thanks to its 99.9% alcohol content, it is a powerful solvent, excellent for the preparation of varnishes for violin making and can also be used as fuel for alcohol burners (bow maker's spirit burner).
Thanks to its low cost and versatility it is also used as a solvent and cleaning agent in various industrial and domestic applications.
