This versatile thermoplastic is ideal for making small casts for restoration and/or gluing additions and small patches. It is used instead of plaster as it does not drip and is very manageable without having to create containment perimeters as are essential with plaster. Its low melting point does not harm wood and is also usually safe for varnishes (always do a small test in a hidden corner to confirm that the composition of the varnish is not sensitive to the melting temperature of the Kerr).
Kerr Impression Compound comes in soft green cakes. The melting temperature is 122° - 124° F (50 ° - 52 ° C)
