Description / CAG Finger Planes, Arched Sole, Stainless Steel
Stainless Steel Type 316
The finger planes are made of stainless steel that does not corrode and it is much harder and durable than brass. 316 grade is one of the most commonly used stainless steels, due to its increased resistance to corrosion. For both its strength and beauty, it has long been used for making fine watches.
Blades made of high-speed Steel (HSS), approx. HRC 60-62
Feature blades made of high-speed steel (HSS) with a hardness rating of HRC 60-62. Compared to older high-carbon steel tools, our HSS blades can withstand higher temperatures without losing their temper (hardness) and remain sharp for a longer period of time. HSS is commonly used in power-saw blades and drill bits, but we also use it to make our woodworking plane blades. Its relatively good toughness and high abrasion resistance make it suitable for working on hard woods without requiring frequent sharpening.

Best finger planes I have ever owned
Review by

Highly polished soles, blades seem to sharpen fast, canโt comment on the edge holding abilities just yet. Comfortable to hold and use. Rivals any other finger plane on the market in my opinion.

"The best finger plane on the market ! " is a bold claim, but I must agree 100% ! It's very carefully made and finished clean! For years I've used "German planes" and sadly they're no where near the quality they used to be. So this plane (10mm) was a VERY welcome surprise!! My only critique is the bed (area the blade rests on) is not in a true and flat plane (leading to blade chatter) a few minutes with a hand file cleaned this right up! Thank you Cremona Tool for making these little gems available!

Finger plane, arched sole, stainless steel, 12 mm
Review by
Nicholas
I ordered this as a test for purchasing the 18 mm size plane later. I was surprised at the quality and design of the plane.
It works better being pulled rather than pushed. I like the quality of the blade. Nice little plane for violin and mandolin making.
